Better search function across all accounts#53

Adding filters like :

• dates
• attached files
  -…

Search in all or multiple accounts and not one by one

While I love everything else about Newton, search has often failed me.

It’s the one thing which has forced me to go back to Gmail from time to time to find that elusive email.

Totally agree. The search function is hopeless. I also end up going to the webmail for my various accounts when trying to track down elusive emails burried deep in the archive. This should be a real priority!

I agree. Searching for an email in Newton is a disaster. Total time waster. This should be priority number 1.

Huge agree. This is probably my main issue. I’ll search for an email I’ve received today and it won’t be in the original list. Once I pick the correct account it will find it. I don’t know what that’s the case, but it makes search quite a chore.

Agree. Search was the only thing that bothered me in Newton. It was sometimes slow or unhelpful (I couldn’t find some emals that I definitely had). In such cases I was forced to search in native clients (in gmail etc. depending on the account needed), but that was hard because I use several accounts and sometimes I don’t remember which account is associated with the email I’m searching for.

Couldn’t agree more. Newton is excellent, however I maintain Outlook purely for searches and filing into other accounts beyond what the e-mail was received in.

Coudn’t agree more. It takes way too long to search for emails and I often find myself using the gmail web browser to get this done. It’d be great this function can be improved.

Months after I published this, nothing has been made.
The dev team prioritized the “black theme”, seriously ?

We need more functionality not fancy colors.

+1 here, due to terrible search I had to switch months ago to Spark, not going back before Newton’s major update

Now i see that it is not only me, gladly i found this thread. I have been using Newton for years, but current search is a total disaster. I have downloaded Sprk, Outlook, Edison, Airmail and all of them had a faster and overall better search.

I genuinely like newton mail client, but little things like search when they don’t work, really decrease productivity.

I highly recommend to improve it asap and find the free slot in your roadmap

This is crucial! Having to go back to other apps to find emails is a dealbreaker.

Newton search function is dramatically painfull. Actually, I would love to have Canary Mail search features (the best I think) in Newton, with abilities to filter by mails, attachments and contacts. In between, I use Newton for reading and sending mails and I use Canary when I want to find a specific mail or attachment in few seconds.

This is the reason I have now gone to Missive, in addition to very poor rate of response with customer response at newton.

Yes - just having so many issues here. Was loving the fast interfact of Newton, but seriously? Can’t search by date? Come on!
