Newton Email Is a - Apple Should Remove It#842

D

The app barely works. Have to re-with email accounts multiple times a day to even update emails. Customer service is non-existent. Someone should sue these guys.

Sorry our $4/month app run by 2 guys with no money is failing you all. Trying our hardest. Comments like this do not encourage us to try harder. Please take your business elsewhere.

This app is the best email client without a close second–most of the time, at least. Every time it stops working, I’m faced with the nightmare of having to choose betweeen all the other aesthetic and functional disasters that are out there. That being said, I have have to run Gmail and Newton in parallel for the last few weeks, becuase Newton only fetches new Gmail when I re-auth each account for each fetch. Can you charge us more? What if it was $12/month? I’d happliy pay it.

FYI now we’ve gotten sync to a point where all you’d need to do is log out of newton and back in and not reauth. Still terrible, but progress. As far as pricing goes, I’ll make a thread here and we can collect some votes

Still does not work Justin

The truth is that it still doesn’t work and it would be nice if they gave us at least a month’s subscription since it’s already annoying not to even receive push notifications.

@Justin Mitchell @Justin Mitchell I have not noticed that logging out of Newton and logging back in fixes anything for me. I still need to update my password in Gmail and Exchange. Also with iOS17 and iPadOS17, your app crashes whenever I click on it, but I am still getting notifications. When do you plan to address that concern?

Here is the thing. Newton is obviously reaching its dead end, supported by two guys with no money and spending even their own money to keep the dying app on life support. That means that Justin Mitchell and his friend have to do something for living and definitely do not have time to care about Newton. There will be no new features, no further development. It would be more then fair @Justin Mitchell to admit the end and stop taking subscriptions. And for Andy and people like him, I don’t even how to name people like him, nobody prevents you to make a big donation to Justin and his friend for Newton. But in some part of your brain you have to understand that paying $12 per month for a mail app is simply plain ridiculous and crazy. For less you’ll get MS Office with Outlook, 4 apps being the world wide standard and 1TB of cloud space. But if Andy wants to be charged more, heavens, Newton developers, go ahead and charge him more.

@st I really want to offer as much grace and understanding to @Justin Mitchell @Justin Mitchell , but I also did not renew my subscription to Newton with the understanding that it was a side hustle for these guys. I appreciate the situation but will not remain silent with my upset into feeling misled and impatient to see things get better. It’s not just about the money we have shelled out which I am prepared to believe is covering out of pocket expenses and not profit margin. It’s a priniciple. Tell us up front what we are buying and paying fully up front! Our give us back our money if you do not plan to honor the arrangement, the contract!

Now the situation is the following.

They took our money, and we cant use the service.

I know it sound bad or too harsh, but that is the truth.
